Renting a classic car can add a special touch to your wedding or any other such event. A limousine can still be a good choice but a Bentley, Rolls Royce and other such option can mean something unique for arriving at your destination and for pictures. When you're thinking about renting a classic car, note a few questions you want to ask so you know everything involved in the process and understand their special restrictions.

1. Ask if there is more time needed for driving

A classic car may only be able to reach a certain speed, or the rental company may want to avoid putting undue wear and tear on the engine, so speeds may need to stay low. A driver may avoid freeways and other such congested areas in order to protect the car from the risk of a collision. An antique car may even be legally restricted from being on certain main roads.

In turn, you may need to add more time to your expected arrival on your big day. Always discuss this with a rental agency so you know how to schedule your day and don't show up late to your own wedding or other event.

2. Discuss your options for photographs with the company

Don't assume you can sit on the hood of the car or even put your foot on the bumper when you rent a classic or antique vehicle. You also don't want to assume that you can take it to a public park, amusement park, or other such crowded area, or have animals or children around the car for photographs.

If you have certain settings in mind for pictures for your wedding or another event, be sure you understand any limitations or restrictions on how the car might be used as a prop. This will allow you to adjust your plans with your photographer accordingly.

3. Always ask how many passengers are allowed

Classic cars are not known for being roomy, and they may have restrictions on the number of passengers to ensure that the upholstery is not torn and that everyone is safe when in the back. They may also not allow anyone up front, as they may not have proper seatbelts in the passenger area. Never assume that your in-laws or even children can ride with you when you rent a classic car; always ask if you're restricted as to the number of passenger, their age, and the like.
